It is the duty of the Governing Board to ensure that the requirements of the 2010 Equality Act are being met by the school. Under the Act schools have a duty to have due regard to equality implications whenever significant decisions are being made or policies developed. The Department for Education has guidance for schools (available here) on how the Act applies to them. Whilst the document is principally for school leaders, staff and governors some parents may also find it of interest.
