We value phonics as an essential tool for the development of pupil's Literacy skills.

Nursery begin phonics through learning listening skills, rhyming and alliteration, oral blending and letter sounds.

In Early Years, staff are trained to deliver daily, systematic high quality phonics, using the Read Write Inc guidance as a basis for planning and assessment. Nursery begin this in the summer term and Reception follow Read Write Inc from the first few weeks in September.
