We value phonics as an essential tool for the development of pupils Literacy skills. Nursery begin phonics through learning listening skill, rhyming and alliteration, oral blending and letter sounds. In Early Years, staff are trained to deliver daily, systematic high quality phonics, using the Read Write Inc guidance as a basis for planning and assessment. Nursery begin this in the summer term and Reception follows Read Write Inc from the first few weeks in September.
